FAQ

  • What are reasons someone might work with a coach?

I think the ICF explains it best and it is true in what my clients come to me for:

Something urgent, compelling or exciting is at stake (a challenge, stretch goal or opportunity)

A gap exists in knowledge, skills, confidence or resources

    A desire to accelerate results

A lack of clarity with choices to be made

Success has started to become problematic

Work and life are out of balance, creating unwanted consequences

Feel lost or unsure on what path to take

  • What is Coaching?

Coaching is the practice of partnering with individuals to help them reach their goals; it is a collaborative partnership between the Coach and the Client.

They work together to develop the skills and behaviors needed to make progress towards positive behavior change and reach a desired result.

  • Myths about coaching

Coaching is not the coach telling the client what they think is best for them. Coaching is not therapy, trauma intervention, parenting or babysitting. Weekly Chats with no clear end goal or insight.

  • How is my privacy handled?

I am a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and the Association for Coaching (AC). Ethics and values is an integral part of my practice. I follow ICF's Coaching Code of Ethics. Information will only be shared outside of our session in extreme cases such as harm to yourself or others. While not mandatory I adhere to HIPPA compliant standards in my data keeping and sessions.

  • What is coaching with you like?

I believe that you are the only one that knows what the right path is for you. During our time together you will identify what goal or result you are seeking to achieve. We will partner to identify obstacles, opportunities, options and a path forward in reaching those goals. I am very practical, affirming and coach from a place of realistic optimism.

  • How do I know if we are a good fit

The first step is booking a free consultation. This allows us to explore more about your reasons for coming to coaching. If during this process it feels like another mode of support may be best for you I provide you with resources and options. My main goal is to ensure you are in the proper space for where you are and where you want to go.

  • Can you tell me more about your qualifications and certifications?

Yes! I hold a Professional Coach Certification (PCC) from the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the gold standard in coaching associations.

The PCC is the second of three levels of certification you can receive from the ICF. The PCC requires 500+ hours of coaching hours (I have almost double this) with at least 25 unique clients (I think I am at 150 clients, but who is counting?) and 125 hours of coach specific education (I am a 200+, I am a bit obsessed with furthering my education and toolbox as you can see in the next question).

The highest credential is the Master Coaching Credential (MCC) which requires 2500 coaching hours and 200 hours of coach training (already done!). This is my next big goal.

  • What additional training do you have?

Continual Education is a top value of mine. In addition to my 200+ hours of coach education, here are a few of my other trainings, credentials and certificates.

    - Mental Health First Aid Certification: The National Council of Wellbeing.

    - Mental Health Coaching Training: Lyra Health.

    - Parent Education and Parent Coach Training: Lyra Health.

    - Evidence Based Strategies for Working with Combined Anxiety & Depression in Coaching Certificate: Lyra Health.

    - DiSC personality (Level 1): Optimus Coaching Academy.

    - Money Management Essential: Association for Financial Counseling & Planning Education.

    - HIPPA compliance training

I also hold a B.S. in Communications and have enjoyed a wonderful 20 year career in Communications and Film Producing working with humans of all types of personalities, identities and backgrounds.

Oh, speaking of humaning. I am also a middle child of five girls, mother of 3 (plus a labradoodle), partner of 20 years and a fierce advocate of Mental Health.
